A nemophilist and an impressionist artist, Suvvro P Basu seamlessly weaves the patience and dynamism of nature in an intricate matrix. Suvvro constructs steps of his artistic path buoyancy across his reverence for nature sweeps up the magnificence of trees and undergrowth while sky might lift him into the dazzling belts of building. Working mostly in oils, his paintings are a vivid exercise in the interplay of light, texture and colour, evocative of the eternal quality of the natural world.
Suvvro drives his creative processes into a new direction, finding ways to meld abstract design elements with factual representations of the people he draws. Into the Woods, Tranquility of Nature I and Winter Reflections are echoed through the maestro’s play of light and shadow, building breathtaking and thoughtful scenery. His visual language draws on the ephemeral beauty of nature repurposed onto canvas, as seen in the interplay of misty hues, verdant paths and tranquil woodlands.
Suvvro is a self-taught artist whose creativity reflects his lifelong involvement with art as a way of finding himself and developing a sense of joy. His work has been widely received, with several pieces selling out via exhibitions and social media. His awards include a Global “Country Award” from Sakura’s 100-Year Anniversary Art Contest (2022).
Suvvro has shown at several exhibitions in Delhi and NCR, such as the India Art Festival and the All India Fine Arts and Craft Society’s Annual Exhibition. In 2024, he was selected for the India International Art Annual Exhibition in Bangalore, establishing himself as a new force in contemporary Indian art. Suvvro P Basu invites others to take a step back into the serenity that nature wants us to feel through his work, reminding them of its ever-mesmerising beauty and the unlimited inspiration it provides.
