The Serendipity Arts Residency Open Studio’s sixth edition unveiled the awe-inspiring creations of six talented artists who crafted their artistic marvels. These projects observe how people interact, introspect, and react to the present. In the exhibition that opened on October 7, Serendipity Arts Foundation, Defence Colony offered a variety of artistic expressions and performances for people to immerse themselves.
The Open Studio concluded an exhilarating three-month residency program. During their first month, artists enthusiastically engaged in enriching activities. In the following months, they learnt under the tutelage of skilled professionals. Later, they devoted themselves to crafting their projects. They engaged in profound discussions, captivating conversations, and interactive workshops, embarking on inspiring studio visits to enrich their understanding of fellow cultural practitioners and acquire fresh insights to enhance their own artistry.
According to Shivani Kasumra, the curator-in-residence, the Residency program has sparked diverse practices and art forms that authentically uncover the realities of our world. The Open Studio revealed a vibrant residency where a community of enlightened artists contemplatively explores the profound shifts happening globally.
This year, the residency program has selected artists from all over the country. The jury, consisting of Vikram Iyengar, Sanchayan Ghosh, Sumangala Damodaran, Sandeep Sangaru, and Sahej Rahal, meticulously selected the final artists. Open Studio was the last chapter of the Serendipity Arts Festival. Their artwork is to be showcased in South Asia’s biggest art festival in Panjim, Goa on December 2023.
The Serendipity Arts Residency, currently in its sixth year, provides artists with a special and engaging experience. The program aimed to create a nurturing environment and offered resources to develop their resident’s artistic skills. This incredible opportunity aided artists to embark on thrilling new projects and immerse themselves in the electrifying art scene at the very core of New Delhi.
Throughout the three-month course, participants were given numerous opportunities to engage in various activities, fostering genuine connections and facilitating meaningful conversations. The program was a pleasant experience entailing entertaining activities. It includes informational talks, debates & discussions, and mesmerizing performances. Furthermore, the event was an incredible chance to engage in enlightening presentations and actively participate in practical courses & workshops to rejuvenate artistic endeavours.
The residency concluded with a public event where artists showed their work in the studio. For six years, the annual three-month artists’ residency program has helped many new and established artists. The upcoming Serendipity Arts Festival in Panjim, Goa will be an incredible opportunity to meet and engage with fellow creatives, enhance their skills, and showcase their work to a larger and more varied audience. Serendipity Arts also organizes other events to disseminate their work to more people.
