This deployment has been prompted by the anticipation of VVIP activities and dignitary visits during the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for September 9-10. While the NGMA currently relies on private security personnel, this CISF cover is expected to become a regular feature following this initial deployment.

The force has been responsible for securing institutions like the National Museum in Delhi and the Indian Museum in Kolkata for an extended period. In conjunction with India’s presidency of the G20 Summit, the culture ministry is curating a special exhibition titled “Roots and Routes: Past, Present and Continuous” at the Jaipur House within the NGMA. The exhibition will feature a collection of artefacts, sculptures, and miniatures from various museums across India.

Professional Security for Valuable Artifacts

Given the importance of the artefacts and the need to ensure the safety of visiting foreign dignitaries, the decision was made to provide professional security through the CISF. This deployment will protect both the cultural heritage on display and the distinguished guests attending the event.

Comprehensive Security Measures

Approximately 50 CISF personnel, armed and trained in commando tactics, will oversee security operations at the NGMA. They will manage entry and exit points, conduct visitor checks, and inspect belongings. Furthermore, a quick reaction team (QRT) will be on standby to respond to any significant threats or potential acts of sabotage, guaranteeing a comprehensive security presence throughout the summit.
