Indian Artists To Look Out For In Venice Biennale 2024

The 60th Venice Biennale is an upcoming international contemporary art exhibition in 2024. Every two years, Venice, Italy hosts the Venice Biennale. Its main show, Foreigners Everywhere, will be curated by artistic director Adriano Pedrosa. With great anticipation, the art world looks forward to the dawn of 2024 and the charming city of Venice, Italy, where the 59th edition of this esteemed institution is set to take place.

The Venice Biennale has come a long way from its modest beginnings in the late 19th century to its present position as a worldwide hub for artistic innovation. It offers a vibrant array of creative expression on a global scale and continues to influence the direction of contemporary art discourse.

In the context of Venice’s unchanging beauty and abundant cultural legacy, the Biennale acts as a hub for the interaction of artists, curators, collectors, critics, and art lovers with the most recent advancements in the visual arts. The Biennale guarantees a voyage through the diverse voices, thoughts, and perspectives of the contemporary cultural environment, with its expansive network of pavilions, exhibitions, and events strewn across the city’s historic venues, parks, and canals.

“I am honoured and humbled by this prestigious appointment, especially as the first Latin American and the first one based in the Southern Hemisphere to curate the International Art Exhibition.” -Adriano Pedrosa, curator.

‘The title of the 60th International Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia is drawn from a series of works made by the Paris-born and Palermo-based collective Claire Fontaine since 2004. The works consist of neon sculptures in different colours that render in a growing number of languages the expression “Foreigners Everywhere”. The expression was, in turn, appropriated from the name of a collective from Turin that, in the early 2000s, fought racism and xenophobia in Italy:Stranieri Ovunque. There are currently some 53 languages in Claire Fontaine’s series of neon sculptures, both Western and non-western, including several indigenous languages, some that are, in fact, extinct—they will be exhibited at the Biennale Arte this year in a new, large-scale installation in the iconic Gaggiandre shipyards in the Arsenale’, write Adriano Pedrosa in his introduction note.
