Comics artist and character designer Kris Anka has shared design artwork for Donald Glover’s cameo as the Prowler in the upcoming film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Anka took to Twitter to showcase his initial designs for the character, stating that he drew inspiration from racing suits and riot gear to create a real-life interpretation of the Prowler’s design in the film.

Glover, known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), made his debut appearance as Aaron Davis in 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” In the comic book lore, Aaron is the uncle of Miles Morales, the main protagonist in both “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and its upcoming sequel. Aaron often takes on the persona of the villainous Prowler. However, Glover’s cameo in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” did not explicitly confirm or deny his character’s connection to the Prowler within the MCU.
In “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” set to release in 2023, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy (Spider-Woman), Hobie Brown (Spider-Punk), and Pavitr Prabhakar (Spider-Man India) journey to the headquarters of the Spider-Society on Earth-928. This place is home to numerous Spider-People from different dimensions. During their adventure, Miles encounters dangerous villains held captive by the Spider-Society. It is during this encounter that Donald Glover’s character, wearing the Prowler costume designed by Kris Anka, makes his appearance.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” features a talented cast including Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, and more. The film is currently playing in theatres across the United States. It serves as the second instalment in Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy, with the third film, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” expected to release in March 2024.
Fans of the Spider-Man franchise and the innovative animation style of the Spider-Verse series are eagerly awaiting the release of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” With Kris Anka’s artistic contribution and Donald Glover’s reprisal of his role as Aaron Davis, the film promises to deliver an exciting and visually captivating experience for audiences.
