The first edition brings together more than 150 eminent galleries from 30 different nations. The ART SG will display work in five different categories, including cinema, focus, futures, reframing, and main galleries. The main galleries will showcase a variety of galleries from around the world. With a carefully crafted thematic presentation, the focus section is devoted to solo or collaborative artists. New galleries that are under six years old will be presented in Futures. Reframe focuses on the non-fungible tokens (NFTs), augmented reality, and virtual reality that has dominated the excitement in the art business for the past two years. There will also be immersive installations that art collectors can appreciate. Along with curated film programming, educational opportunities, critical and thought-provoking discussions, and large-scale site-specific installations, ART SG will also provide public art programmes. The film sector will be curated by Gridthiya Gaweewong, one of the most renowned curators at the Jim Thompson Art Center in Bangkok. Her work has been acknowledged as addressing issues regarding social transformation and confronting artists from Thailand and beyond.

“We believe the launch of ART SG will crystallize Singapore’s position as an exceptional cultural venue within the international art landscape. We look forward to welcoming collectors and galleries from Southeast Asia and around the world to Singapore in January 2023. With the return of large-scale events to Singapore, we have observed a heightened regional demand for stimulating engagements, conversations, and experiences with art. By bringing the international art world to a location closer to home, ART SG will not only invite the world’s leading collectors and art leaders to experience Singapore and all that the region has to offer but also encourage a new generation of emerging collectors to be inspired by the rich diversity of art immediately at our doorstep,” commented Shuyin Yang, Fair Director, ART SG.
