The highly anticipated third edition of the Art of India exhibition is set to captivate art enthusiasts in the national capital, commencing on January 28 at the India Habitat Centre (IHC). Under the theme “Tradition, Transition, Modernity,” the eight-day exhibition, curated by esteemed art critic Alka Pande, promises to be a celebration of India’s diverse artistic heritage.
Renowned artists like Raja Ravi Verma, B Prabha, M F Husain, Ganesh Haloi, Manu Parekh, and Jayasri Burman will showcase their masterpieces, making them a compelling statement to India’s creative legacy. The exhibition aims to present a comprehensive narrative of Indian visual culture through a ‘ragamalika’ or garland of stories, as described by Pande.
In a statement, Pande expressed, “The story of Indian Art is indeed an amazing compendium of different voices, languages, and mediums which defines Indian art. The third edition promises to be a moving feast for art lovers.”
The Art of India exhibition will feature a diverse range of artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, digital, and mixed-media works. This multi-faceted approach aims to showcase the richness and depth of India’s cultural history through the lens of contemporary art.
Launched for the first time in 2022, the Art of India exhibition has quickly become a significant gathering for art enthusiasts. Organizers describe it as a melting pot of artistic proficiency and imaginative concepts, emphasising its role as a platform for diverse forms of visual arts, including sculpture, painting, design, and architecture.
The exhibition in the national capital will run until February 4, after which it will travel to the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai from March 9 to 15, extending its reach to a broader audience. The Art of India exhibition continues to be a dynamic showcase of India’s vibrant artistic landscape, offering a unique opportunity for both established and emerging artists to display their talents.
