After the resignation of Charles Venable as the Director and Chief Executive of Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, Colette Pierce Burnette is the new Director and CEO of Newfields, the artnet news reported.
According to the artnet news, Venable resigned after the organization came under fire for a racist job posting calling for candidates that would “attract a broader and more diverse audience while maintaining the museum’s traditional core, white art audience”. After resignation later in March the museum revealed the plan in taking up Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives to introduce anti-racist training for all staff.

In a statement quoted in the artnet news, Colette Pierce Burnette says she’s quite excited to lead Newfields and would work towards making it a place every person in Indianapolis and beyond will be excited to visit and where every team member will feel proud to work.
She had been the President of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas and is a board member of Leadership Austin, the Austin Community Foundation and Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, the artnet news reported.
