Aparna Bidasaria’s solo show titled FALAK, meditations on Banyan is now on display at Bikaner House, New Delhi. It’s been presented by Gallerie Nvya and curated by renowned art critic Uma Nair. The exhibition has her 23 paintings on banyan trees.
The dripping paint and the strokes on the canvas seems as the roots of the banyan tree from its branches. She uses pointillism to paint interestingly shaped banyan tree. It has been her muse since her childhood. “Nature never fails to fascinate me, and it was the banyan tree where I got stuck”, says Aparna. Further adding that the colours and the compositions of the paintings are more of her feelings and what the banyan tree means to her.
The exhibition includes a four panel work titled Antaral that showcases the play of light and shadows of the sun she’s under the tree and when she’s viewing it from a distance. ‘Antaral’ as the name suggests means intermission and the four panel work displays four different perspectives of the banyan tree in different time interval. Further works in the exhibition includes Madamst, Magan and Leheriya. As the curator of the show Uma Nair says, “This show is about the banyan tree that shines like seasons in the sun”.
The Indore-based artist, Aparna Bidasaria has many group shoes and solo shows to her credit. After showcasing her paintings for the first time in a group show in Tatva Exhibition at Tatva Art Gallery in 2006 she had her first solo show in 2017 at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal with “Time and Being”.
