Tsuktiben Jamir

Known for its world-famous restaurants, art galleries and renowned music venues, the city of Boulder in Colorado, United States, is returning with its “Boulder Arts Week” in celebration of art and creativity.  Digital and physical arts and culture activities will be featured throughout this one-week event, including art walks, dance, theatre, exhibitions, performances, music, public art, lectures, readings, and workshops at different locations all around the city.

This vibrant festival commenced on the 7th of April 2023 and will continue till the 15th of April 2023. This event is the fruit of the joint collaboration between Boulder County Arts Alliance, Create Boulder, The City of Boulder Community Vitality Department and The Boulder Chamber of Commerce. The city boasts over its accommodation of thousands of artists as well as more than 140 art organisations, therefore it comes as no surprise that art is held as a key aspect of society and this celebration only serves as testimony to this fact.

With a warm welcome from the organisers of the Boulder Arts Week, “This event is not only a showcase of talent, but also a platform for education and collaboration. Attend workshops, masterclasses, and discussions to deepen your understanding of the arts and gain valuable insights from local artists. Whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or just discovering your passion for creativity, there’s something for everyone at Boulder Arts Week,” the event has successfully kicked off and is in full motion.

The event was bursting with talent and passion, while the visitors were taking it all in from participating in a free drumming workshop with local legend Jorge Alabê to taking a live figure drawing class at NoBo Center for the Arts as well as taking a self-guided tour of artists’ studios and galleries while meeting sculptors, painters, musicians, photographers, crafters, and designers.

The visitors also witnessed the “Setting the Tone” exhibition that featured abstract paintings by artists Laura Brenton, Cyndy Hinkelman-Smith, and Margot Rowan in collaborative improvisation with violinist Michael L. Smith improvisation in reaction to music and its relation to moments and time. On Mondays, AstroTours.org also provides two-hour astronomy sessions that start at sunset. Visitors will get the chance to use telescopes to see the night sky with professional astronomers throughout the session.

The launch of “Let Your Light Shine” will also take place during the festival where visitors will be able to learn how Atman Smith, Ali Smith, and Andrés González from Holistic Life Foundation Inc. have revitalised Baltimore schools for the past 20 years by introducing mindfulness, meditation, and yoga practises.

We are thrilled to be able to connect the community with the arts during Boulder Arts Week.”

The Boulder Arts Week is still ongoing and packed with a variety of events with a palette of versatile artforms that is sure to make a lasting impression. An art week to remember truly.
