Artist-designer Viraj Khanna has blended his creative ingenuity with imagination to design an exclusive bomber jacket for PUMA that re-imagines the sportswear brand’s iconic cat with different textile cut-outs in an experimental colour story.
The jacket has been designed exclusively for PUMA Gen Z Brand Ambassador, Shanaya Kapoor, for her first-ever Knicks Basketball Game at Madison Square in New York. With a keen eye for art and collage techniques, Viraj Khanna has customised the jacket that effortlessly captures his art-forward aesthetic with PUMA’s trendy streetwear vibe.
A visual treat for fashion enthusiasts, trendsetters and athleisure addicts, the reversible PUMA Bomber Jacket co-curated with Viraj showcases the design on the sleeves whilst interpreting the sports brand’s iconic cat with different textile cut-outs in an experimental colour story. Rendered in traditional Ari and Zardozi embroideries, the sleeves are the highlight of the jacket and showcase Indian craftsmanship with a contemporary spin.
“I have re-interpreted the Puma Cat in my style. It is slightly abstracted because of the collage approach that I usually provide to structure my figurations. The sleeve patchworks emerge from my textiles of different figurative works. Placing strong elements together to create different visual patterns while keeping the Puma ethos intact was very exciting,” says Viraj Khanna.

Viraj Khanna (b. 1995, Kolkata, West Bengal, India) studied Business Administration at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 2018. Viraj Khanna’s works have been exhibited in solo shows at the LOFT, Gallery Art Exposure, Kolkata (2021), Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai (2022) and the India Art Fair 2023 with Tao Art Gallery. He is currently pursuing his MFA at the Art Institute of Chicago.
