Ministry of Textiles Presents Weave The Future
Weave The Future is an upcoming initiative by the Ministry of Textiles, which celebrates the new generation of textile artisans, known for weaving innovation with craftsmanship; circling it into fashion. The event is curated by Material Library of India.
The textile exhibition is scheduled from February 1 to February 9, 2025, at Dilli Haat, INA. This event is a building block for enhancing the outreach, visibility, and accessibility of the textile upcycling ecosystem to an audience that has always supported craftsmanship.
What to See at Weave The Future
Weave The Future promises to be an engaging experience, with several key highlights. You can catch a wholesome brand interaction on the evening of February 3 2025. It will be accompanied by three workshops discussing stitching, weaving, and storytelling.
Sachin Sachar’s Storytelling
From 12 to 2 PM on February 3, 2025, Sachin Sachar is presenting a story titled, कपास की कहानियाँ (Kapaas Ki Kahaniyan). It is an interactive theatrical storytelling experience. The audience is sure to witness an immersive and informative journey on cotton via a mini travelling museum. Through sensorial engagements with objects and materials, it explores cotton’s historical significance, cultural relevance, and sustainable implications.
Paiwand Studio’s Weaving Workshop
Paiwand Studio is also demonstrating the nuances of weaving on February 8, 2025, from 12 to 2 PM. Named, Weaving: (Un)tangle the knot, it focuses on sustainability and upcycling while diving into traditional craft practices aimed to cultivate familiarity with the craft of handloom weaving with discarded textiles. You’ll get insights into an innovative way to upcycle weaves. The artisans will conduct the demonstrations and walk-throughs themselves.
Anuj Sharma’s Fashion Design
If you find yourself at Weave the Future on February 9, 2025, between 12-2 PM, you can enjoy Stitch Me Not. Conducted by Anuj Sharma, founder of Button Masala, it introduces an innovative and unique sustainable fashion design system- No cutting, No sewing, One size fits all. Utilising Button Masala’s simple grid system proves to be a solution to fast fashion, encouraging creativity in the customer, reducing wastage, overproduction, and stocking, bringing down costs of production. A hallmark of a truly sustainable brand.
Ministry of Textile’s Goals
Ministry of Textile’s platform encourages newer brands to adopt more responsible practices while raising awareness among buyers about the existence of textile upcycling brands by improving the transparency of waste being reintroduced into the textile supply chain. Weave The Future is sure to inspire consumers to make more sustainable choices in their purchases. The event will also advance the objectives of the Tripartite MoU by pushing brands to get certified.
