Art Basel, the prestigious international art fair, is set to return to Basel, Switzerland, for its 2024 edition. With a newly appointed Director, Maike Cruse, at its helm, the event promises to showcase the finest works from 287 leading galleries across 40 countries and territories.

The 2024 edition of Art Basel in Basel will welcome 22 new galleries, marking an expansion in its roster of participants. Additionally, the Feature sector, dedicated to art-historical projects, will see 11 first-time participants, including Almeida & Dale Galeria de Arte from São Paulo and Galerie Le Minotaure from Paris.

The fair will continue to feature its main sector, presenting a diverse range of artworks across various mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography and digital works. Notable additions to the Feature sector include a condensed retrospective of artist Jean Tinguely and exemplary oil paintings by Irène Zurkinden. In the Statements sector, dedicated to solo presentations by emerging artists, visitors can expect installations, sculptures, and video works from a diverse array of talents, including Angolan artist Sandra Poulson and Indonesian artist Julian Abraham “Togar”.

Expanded City-Wide Programming

Art Basel will not be confined to the exhibition halls of Messe Basel but will extend its presence throughout the city. The Parcours sector, curated for the first time by Stefanie Hessler, will transform urban spaces on Clarastrasse into a public art exhibition. Additionally, the Hotel Merian will serve as a continuous venue for artistic events and showcases, offering visitors around-the-clock engagement with art.
