ANTIMA, Celebrating S.H. Raza’s Last Works at The Raza Foundation 

Ashok Vajpeyi puts together a show of S.H. Raza’s collected works. 

The Raza Foundation invites you to the preview of Antima, an exhibition showcasing Raza’s final works, inaugurated by Prof. G.P. Talwar on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Shridharani Art Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi.

Established in 2001 by artist Sayed Haider Raza, The Raza Foundation is dedicated to fostering contemporary art in India, including visual arts, music, and poetry. It supports emerging talent in poetry, performing arts, and visual arts, contributing to the growth of contemporary Indian artists.

Under Ashok Vajpeyi’s leadership, the foundation has cultivated a dynamic space for artistic exploration through seminars, concerts, exhibitions, fellowships, books, and journals. It also provides fellowships for in-depth research on masterworks and cultural discourse. The foundation embraces Indian classical dance, music, literature, and modern art, organizing events across 20 locations annually.

To mark Sayed Haider Raza’s birthday, the foundation, which takes its name after the artist, has announced an exhibition of his last works.

A key figure in modern Indian art, Raza was born in 1922 in Babaria, Madhya Pradesh, and studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai before moving to Paris in 1950 for further artistic training. In the 1950s, he developed his signature style, characterized by geometric shapes, strong lines, and vibrant colors. His work frequently explored the bindu (dot), a symbol of creation in Hindu philosophy.

Ashok Vajpeyi, Managing Trustee of the foundation and a close friend of Raza, has been deeply connected to his work. A noted hindi poet, critic, translator, editor, and cultural activist, Vajpeyi is a prominent figure in India’s cultural landscape. He co-authored a book with Raza and has extensively written about his work.

The exhibition will be Inaugurated by renowned Prof. G. P. Talwar. Prof Talwar who is Director at the Talwar Research Foundation, a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) recognized by DSIR, Govt of India.

He has published over 600 publications in reputed Journals. He is the editor & author of 10 books & Monographs. His notable research contributions are Immuno-therapeutic Vaccine for Leprosy, Birth Control Vaccine, and Development of Polyherbal Microbicides for Reproductive Health of Women. The exhibition of the  Legendary painter and Padma Vibhushan awardee, S H Raza, will showcase and celebrate the artists Last Works since his passing away after a prolonged illness in July 2016. Raza popularised Indian concepts and iconography globally, and built a towering legacy of modern art that contemporary artists in India take inspiration from.
