Tsuktiben Jamir

Aakriti Art Gallery in Kolkata is bringing an art exhibition titled ‘Bengal Beyond Boundaries’ to the Bikaner House in New. The exhibition, which will be hosted from the 7th– 16th July 2023 will be curated by writer and art critic Uma Nair, and conceptualised by artist Jogen Chowdhury. The exhibition aims to position the Bengal School’s historical narrative as a product of profound introspection into the comprehension and connection between humanity and the natural world, while also capturing the essence of human history through a thoughtfully curated assortment of artistic pieces. The show will present an array of paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures, meticulously arranged in chronological order, which epitomize the inventiveness and underlying principles of modern and contemporary art movements.

According to Aakriti Art Gallery, the exhibition “will showcase a wonderful process and spirit that provokes a dialogue that will not question our own notion of culture but will also reflect the beauty of the human imagination. In a remarkable assembly of works, the show will be a quest to accomplish a deeply impressive satisfying mélange of artists, each of whom possesses a sprightly distinctive approach. The compositional variety and the grammar of execution shall make for a lively diversity of angles as well as satisfying narrative styles.”

This unveiling will feature a harmonious blend of established artists, Masters, and young rising artists.

Uma Nair says about the exhibition, “A rank of works that transcend time the images of human figures as well as expressionist works will reflect the incessant human desire to explore the macrocosmic and the microcosmic through the experience of memory as well as history. These works will offer many journeys of discovery and contemplation and signify the enduring need for artists to provide a context and commentary around artistic journeys.”
