The Karachi Biennale Trust (KBT) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Waheeda Baloch as the curator for the fourth edition of the Karachi Biennale, known as KB24. In a historic move, Waheeda Baloch becomes the first woman to take on this pivotal role in the Karachi Biennale’s history.

Baloch’s noteworthy efforts in bringing visibility to artists from peripheral regions in Sindh have earned her recognition as an influential voice in the art world. A Journey Rooted in Art and Literature
Hailing from MirpurKhas, a place steeped in artistic heritage, Waheeda Baloch has a deep connection to the world of art and literature, thanks to her family’s involvement in literary circles. Her curatorial practice draws from her diverse experiences as an art educator and a performance artist.
Education and Expertise
Waheeda Baloch holds a Master’s Degree in Curation from Stockholm University, Sweden, a qualification that enriches her curatorial approach. She also possesses a Master’s in Fine Arts from Sindh University. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Art and Design, Sindh University, while pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Bonn, Germany.
A Proponent of Art Dialogue
Baloch is the Founder Curator of ArtFest Karachi, an annual exhibition hosted at the Sambara Art Gallery. This event, conceptualised by her for the non-profit gallery, has become a vital space for both artistic and discursive dialogue among Pakistani artists. Her portfolio also boasts a range of national and international exhibitions.
