079|STORIES to Present Vyom’s New Exhibition
‘Come As You Are;’ is both the heartfulness and artistic brilliance of Vyom’s second solo exhibition at the 079 Stories Gallery. Vyom imagines multiplicities with singular origins, with the artist as the maker-imaginer; reflecting upon a oneness in all that is known and unknown. For pop culture fanatics, think somewhere like the Wizard of Oz! The show began on 1st December 2024 and will continue until 2nd January 2025.
The Multiplicities in Vyom’s Solo Show
‘Come As You Are’ is a viewing experience, that you simply CANNOT miss! It overlaps 3 bodies of work; mind, body and aura. Each body of work in its materiality is also distinct. He draws all — ink and paint on handmade paper, oil on cement board, corton steel sheets — with such intensity. For example, in ‘The Aura’ viewing section, these tripods are a continuation of his animistic- non-human forms but imagined as desired reflections or energy projections, which generate an oneness with the other-decentralising the human.
About Vyom
Vyom is a sculptor from Ahmedabad. He looks at the world through a macro lens, though the individual perceptions of each work become personal and defined. Scale is very important in his work; the proportions are such that they force the viewer to become aware of their own physicality, their own bodies, and their scale in reference to everything around them.
Vyom’s current body of work draws meaning and form from the diverse folk traditions. The folk traditions offer an extensive position in what harmonious living can be, one where the rhythms of the individual and the world they occupy are synced. An inherent understanding that I am here because of what I see around me and not the other way around.
