‘PRIMARY CONCERNS’, A Tribute to the Legacy of Abstraction.’
The artists in ‘Primary Concerns’ carry us across a range of considerations about the possibilities of abstract painting, from analogies to the world at large to studies in brute materiality. But, in using the primary colors of blue, red, and yellow, these artists also return to early modern artistic ambitions to conjure some kind of spell from basic forms. As the title of this exhibition intimates: interest in the fundamental is typically profound.
