Eye on Instagram: Ganesha in the world of Social Media

It might be called ‘The Gram’, but it’s worth a TON of exposure. Instagram has always been all about visual impact, and it’s where you find some of the finest artists in the world today, from the heavyweights to the hidden talent. Abir Pothi embarks on a series that will highlight the best of artists we manage to discover on Instagram— those whose artistry you could take an ‘Insta-nt’ liking to!


The recent watercolour painting of Sri Ganesh by Lisa is a new addition to her diverse range of watercolours. Her previous works on her page include a painting of Sri Krishna, as well as elements drawn from nature, such as animals, foliage, and forests.

Amit Bhar\’s Ganeshas are paintings depicting a grey stone sculpture, with a hint of red \’sindoor\’ (vermilion) on the forehead. The realistic play of lights and colours in the painting makes them look like a real stone sculpture.

A renowned Calligraphy artist in India, Parameshwar Raju\’s Ganesha artwork reveals a brilliant application of the calligraphic style of artmaking in creating a visual structure. On display on his page are many mythological characters depicting Shiva, Surya and Hanuman, all created using calligraphy.
