Introduction

The Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA), in collaboration with the Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation, is now accepting applications for its prestigious Emerging Artists Award (EAA+) 2024. The program is designed to support and nurture the talents of young Indian artists by offering financial grants, mentorship, and exhibition opportunities.

Grant and Program Details

Since its inception in 2007, FICA has closely monitored the evolving landscape of artistic practices in India. The Emerging Artists Award, particularly in its enhanced format, EAA+, aims to foster a dynamic cohort of 10 young artists each receiving a grant of Rs 100,000. This initiative not only provides monetary support but also includes a comprehensive mentorship and residency program, culminating in an exhibitory component to showcase the works developed during the grant period.

Scope and Vision for 2024

For the 2024 cycle, FICA seeks to engage artists who are enthusiastic about exploring collaborative and peer-led approaches within their creative process. The focus is on embracing intersectionality, diversity, and the challenges and complexities that come with it, paving the way for innovative collaborations and pedagogies in art-making.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be under 35 years of age.
  • Must be an Indian citizen; Overseas Citizens of India and Non-Resident Indians are not eligible.
  • Applicants should have completed their educational degrees. Current students are not eligible.
  • Self-taught artists must have at least two years of sustained artistic practice.

Application Process

Interested artists are required to submit their applications via a specified Google Form, attaching a single PDF that includes an updated CV, an artist statement, and a portfolio of up to 20 works. Deadline for Applications

The deadline for submitting applications is 20 May 2024. Applications received after this date or through improper channels (such as direct emails or courier) will not be considered.
