From paper to printmaking, water colours to installations

Blending various media and constantly evolving my style, I am based in Baroda and love experimentation. I pour my energy into constantly reinventing myself; from paper to print-making, water colours to installations, I have tried my hands at it all.

Kanika Shah was one of the nine winners of the First Take 2019. From thereon she have been working for various group shows and been part of various online exhibitions.

In the year 2020 her work was selected and exhibited for 2nd Print Biennial India, International Exhibition of Graphic Prints, Lalit Kala Akademy, New Delhi. The same year she was shortlisted for Manorama Young Printmaker Award, Delhi.

For her, 2021 was the year when she got a chance to be a part of Kala Deepam National Women’s Art Camp in Goa conducted by the Ministry of Cultural Centre Udaipur, Ministry of Culture. Her artworks was showcased in ‘TIME WRAP’ a group show at Gallery Veda, Chennai curated by Lina Vincent.

Recently she has been invited to conduct a Linocut 5 days’ workshop at Symbiosis Institute, Pune for 2nd year students as their elective course.

“In recent works I am exploring with mix – medias such as natural pigments, gouache, watercolours, cyanotype and collage on traditional miniature paper that is wasli paper with very fine miniature lines,” says Kanika Shah.
