The Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) proudly announces a momentous achievement by one of its students, Sreeram Jayaram. Sreeram, a student of the Communication Design department (2019-23), has clinched the esteemed Animation Xpress ANN Award for the Best Student Film (Animation) in Mumbai.

The Winning Film: “The Day My Dad Arrives”

Sreeram’s winning film, titled “The Day My Dad Arrives,” is a testament to his artistic prowess. Crafted frame by frame through the traditional method of hand-drawn animation, this 2D animated masterpiece narrates a poignant story. The film revolves around a young boy’s dreams of his father’s return, a Gulf migrant worker. It delves into the emotional journey marked by the boy’s anticipation and deep longing for his father’s homecoming.

Mentorship and Learning Environment

Sreeram’s Major Design Project (MDP) was nurtured under the expert guidance of Shaaz Ahmed, Professor of Communication Design. The project provided Sreeram with a conducive learning environment, allowing him to showcase his creative problem-solving abilities. His nuanced understanding of design concepts, film language, and animation principles shone through in this exceptional work.
