Isha Ambani, the daughter of Nita Ambani, says, “The showcase is special not only because it traces the incredible legacy of Pop Art, but because it has an unmistakable sense of fun about it. I’m especially excited to see it strike a chord with younger audiences and foster a culture of creativity with inspirations that go beyond time and space”
The first floor of POP is dedicated to Fame, showcasing iconic Pop movement works depicting the rise of celebrity culture in 1960s-1970s America. Highlights include Andy Warhol’s celebrity portraits and ’45 Gold Marilyn.’ Ed Ruscha’s ‘Level as a Level’ is also featured, inspired by Hollywood. The second floor of the exhibition is dedicated to Love, featuring five Pop movement pioneers, including Robert Indiana and Keith Haring. It showcases iconic works exploring romance, unity, and human connection.
The third floor of the exhibition delves into the theme of Power in Pop Art, examining artists like Andy Warhol and Ed Ruscha’s focus on branding, Robert Rauschenberg’s interest in media, and the impact on 20th-century landscapes. Key works include Warhol’s ‘Sixteen Jackies’ and ‘Flowers,’ exploring power, symbolism, and loss related to the Kennedys, as well as Elaine Sturtevant’s challenging flower series and Rauschenberg’s monumental ‘Periwinkle Shaft’ collage painting.
