In a commendable initiative to promote creativity, skill development, and entrepreneurship among school students, the Jharkhand government has unveiled plans to organize an exhibition-cum-sale event that enables young artists to earn money from their artworks. The brainchild of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, this pioneering endeavor is set to take place from November 3 to 5 at Audrey House in Ranchi, with the aim of nurturing artistic talents while providing a platform for students to showcase and sell their paintings and crafts.
Fostering Talent and Encouraging Entrepreneurship
The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) Director, Kiran Kumari Pasi, emphasized that this exhibition is not merely an artistic showcase but a transformative opportunity for students. It offers them a chance to harness their creativity, display their masterpieces, and learn the valuable skill of entrepreneurship. Through this initiative, the government aims to connect the young artists with the market, enabling them to experience firsthand the journey of bringing their creations to the public.
An Innovative Approach to Sharing Earnings
The selection process for artworks will entail careful screening, ensuring that the exhibited pieces represent the best of the students’ talents. The earnings generated from the sale of these paintings and craft items will be shared among various stakeholders. Impressively, the artists themselves will receive a significant portion, with 80 percent of the amount allocated to them. The schools that fostered these talents and the art teachers who nurtured them will receive 15 percent and 5 percent respectively, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach.
Opening Doors for Both Government and Private Schools
This remarkable initiative is not limited to government institutions alone. Students from private schools are also encouraged to participate, fostering a sense of equality and inclusivity in the program. Schools will be provided with an online platform where they can upload the best paintings and crafts created by their students. These uploads will then undergo a selection process, determining which artworks will be featured and available for purchase at the exhibition.
A Stepping Stone to the Digital Market
Looking ahead, Kiran Kumari Pasi envisions a promising future for this initiative. She revealed that efforts are underway to link the students’ artworks with the digital market, offering them an avenue to earn money beyond the confines of the physical exhibition. This forward-thinking approach seeks to empower young artists to explore the expansive world of digital entrepreneurship, showcasing their creations to a global audience.
