Radhesham Dhamal’s Art Style

It would be wrong to assume that a higher power spontaneously moves Radhsham Dhamal. Instead, he imagines the final appearance of the painting, complete with the palette, resonating with his inner turmoil. His favourite medium remains acrylic paints on canvas, which he has strived to perfect. Within the blank canvas, he integrates size, space, imagery, texture, and colour, a reflection of his thoughts and chaos.

Through fluid brushstrokes and myriad shades & values, he birthed familiar images. You would notice that lines and shapes frequently intersect, engendering new spaces and textures; where the imaginary comes to life. It is as though they’re playing a game of hide-and-seek, where the initial forms vanish and reappear constantly. Even though they remain hidden, they are undoubtedly blended in layers of paint and gel, leaving only faint memories of anything identifiable.

These intentional lines and colours make the creation more purposeful. As he adds layers of paint, he generates texture and depth, playing with opacity and transparency. Despite the chaos, his work is tranquil, yet paired with tension and strength. His originality takes over, as the viewer gains a new outlook on the world. Recently, Radhesham Dhamal’s paintings have tackled fear, sadness, compassion, and distress.

Radhesham Dhamal’s Exploration of Abstract Art

For Radhesham Dhamal, abstract art is a means to explore the essence of nature. Drawing inspiration from the mysteries and secrets of the natural world, abstract art allows him to convey these deep connections. The natural environment, characterized by its constant movement and fluidity, acts as a dynamic and ever-evolving backdrop for his artistic inquiries. Through his artwork, Dhamal captures the movement and energy that encapsulates the ocean.

Motivated by the ocean’s changing shades, the colour scheme mirrors its varied and shifting tones. It can be said that his paintings portray both the serenity and contemplative aspects of the ocean, forcing the audience to reflect on the solitude and calmness found in the vastness of the open sea. Using bold, expressive brushwork and striking colours, he depicts the fury and passion of the turbulent waters.
