Arun Yogiraj’s Artistry Celebrated
Arun Yogiraj, part of a lineage steeped in sculpting traditions, has gained national recognition for his exceptional talent. Despite not receiving official confirmation, Arun expressed his belief in the acceptance of his sculpted idol based on the messages from senior BJP leaders.
The Artistic Vision: A Divine and Childlike Presence
Arun shared his artistic vision for the idol, emphasising the divine and childlike qualities. “The idol should be of a child, who is divine too, because it is the statue of the incarnation of God. People who look at the statue should feel the divinity.”
He commenced work on the idol about six to seven months ago, combining the elements of divinity and a child-like face. Arun hopes that people will not only appreciate the selection but also recognise the divine essence he aimed to capture in his creation.
A Glimpse into Arun Yogiraj’s Journey
Arun Yogiraj, currently one of the most sought-after sculptors in India, embarked on his sculpting journey under the influence of his father, Yogiraj, and grandfather, Basavanna Shilpi. Despite a brief stint in the corporate sector after pursuing an MBA, Arun’s passion for sculpting led him back to the art form in 2008.
Since then, his artistic prowess has flourished, yielding iconic sculptures that have garnered nationwide acclaim. Notable works include a 30-feet statue of Subhash Chandra Bose near India Gate and a 21-feet tall Hanuman statue in Mysore.
Arun’s selection for Ayodhya’s Ram Temple idol further cements his reputation as a prominent sculptor, adding a significant chapter to his already impressive portfolio.
