The Bruno Art Group showcased a truly revolutionary art exhibition called MY TERRITORY, featuring the exceptional work of the globally acclaimed Israeli painter, Yigal Ozeri, based in New York. The artist’s inaugural solo exhibition in India commenced on October 12th at the prestigious Bikaner House in Delhi. It marked a momentous occasion for the artist, who not only celebrated his 65th birthday on opening night but also commemorated over four decades of an illustrious career as a visual artist. This solo exhibition embodied a retrospective essence, serving as a testament to his four most remarkable series of the past decade.
These awe-inspiring large-scale works were showcased across the magnificent Bikaner House galleries. Featuring a stunning collection of more than 25 exquisite paintings, the exhibition delved into the captivating realm of human experiences, the enchanting beauty of nature, the vibrant energy of cities, and the fleeting precious moments that have profoundly impacted the artist’s own life. Together, these experiences formed a path of the artist’s very personal life journey.
The artist commented, “I decided to curate an exhibition with a retrospective essence, aiming to ensure that my inaugural solo show in India truly reflects my identity as an artist. I wanted the subject to touch on the most relevant series in my career so that viewers would receive a comprehensive presentation of who I am as an artist. I chose to exhibit in India because I connect with the culture and the energy of the people of India. I visited a few months ago for the India Art Fair and fell in love with the spirit and vibrancy of Delhi. I feel that there is an art scene in India that is flourishing, and I want to be a part of it.”
Yigal Ozeri’s artworks were displayed at the Bihar Museum Biennale alongside other Israeli artists’ creations. The captivating artwork of Ozeri was showcased in the impressive exhibition, “In Another Green”, alongside the remarkable art pieces of Leor Grady and Joseph Dadoune. These Israeli artists use different methods to connect with India and create a strong bond through art. The show was open to the public till October 15, 2023. As a visual artist, he used his work to capture and express the multitude of realities that he experiences and observes. Yigal Ozeri’s artistic expression thrives through his captivating narrative, his visionary perspective, and his fervent love for depicting the wonders of life and nature on canvas.
The focal point of this exhibit centres around a collection of five recently created artworks that depict scenes from Delhi. These artworks were made specifically for this exhibition. The paintings depict incredibly realistic scenes capturing the hustle and bustle of modern everyday life on the streets of India’s capital city. At first glance, these creations may deceive you with their photographic resemblance. However, delve deeper and you’ll discover an astonishing truth – every minute detail has been meticulously crafted by the skilful strokes of an artist’s brush through oil paints. Far from being ordinary, these pictures contain a fascinating tale.
The primary focus of the exhibition was a series of beautiful women in expansive natural settings. Ozeri’s magnificent paintings enthralled global audiences, masterfully blending dreamlike illusions with the captivating allure of pictorial realism. Some of his highly renowned creations belong to the extraordinary series “The Women in Nature”, including masterpieces like “Shely in the Water” and “Priscilla in Ecstasy”. These masterpieces have dazzled art lovers, establishing Ozeri as an internationally renowned artist over the past decade. This collection showcases more than 10 paintings from the artist’s latest series, “A New York Story” and “Americana” capturing the artist’s recent evolution and providing a captivating exploration of the bustling urban life in the magnificent city of New York. A monochromic large format portrait of Gerhard Richter is Ozeri’s signature painting from “The Art World” series. The series centred on the many faces of the art world and focused on large-scale portraits.
