Special Screening Highlights

‘Jaane Jaan’ took the spotlight on the festival’s opening day, treating the audience to a cinematic delight in a spacious 380-seater auditorium. The audiovisual logistics for this grand screening were provided by PictureTime, a pioneering mobile theater company known for its state-of-the-art inflatable digital cinemas.

Day two of the festival witnessed the grand screening of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan,’ which left the Ladakhi audience in awe. Spectators cheered and applauded as they experienced this blockbuster on the big screen. Director Atlee conveyed his gratitude to the audience, emphasising the emotional connection ‘Jawan’ holds with Indian cinema lovers.

A Unique Viewing Experience

Sushil Chaudhary, the founder of PictureTime Digiplex, described the second edition of The Himalayan Film Festival as “unique.” It provided viewers with an unparalleled experience of enjoying their favourite films amidst the high-altitude beauty of Leh. PictureTime played a pivotal role in engineering the audio-visual logistics on-site, including setting up an open screen and viewing experience at the festival’s amphitheater.

Chaudhary shared, “For the first edition of The Himalayan Film Festival, we had the opportunity to screen some festival films at such high-altitude locations. It was a challenge, but we did it. For its second edition, we took care of the complete installation—audio, video, as well as other elements required to mount a film festival. At PictureTime, we were happy to associate with team Anupama Chopra to plan something unique and different. This was the biggest, grandest film festival of any Himalayan destination, offering four days of an immersive film viewing experience.”

Masterclasses and Insights

In addition to film screenings, the festival featured insightful masterclasses with renowned filmmakers such as Vikramaditya Motwane, Amit Sharma, and Kenny Basumatary, who also acted alongside Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Jawan.’ These sessions provided valuable insights into the world of filmmaking, adding an educational dimension to the cinematic celebration.

The second Himalayan Film Festival in Leh not only delighted film enthusiasts but also showcased the region’s growing importance as a hub for cultural events, further solidifying its place on the cinematic map.
