The Art of Robert Indiana in 10 Pictures

Robert Indiana, an American Pop artist known for his iconic LOVE paintings that were inspired by signs and logos, was born Robert Earl Clark in 1928. Contrary to popular belief, his work was a spiritual investigation of love. He travelled to New York in 1954 after receiving his BFA and made connections with well-known artists there. His LOVE and HOPE themes eventually evolved into public sculptures. The Whitney Museum had its retrospective in 2013. In 2018, Indiana passed away away. His work has an enduring influence on the art world as it is displayed in prestigious institutions including The Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery, and the National Gallery.
