Art Style of Harish Raut Artist
Harish Raut is primarily known for his unique figurative style. He put the rural women on a pedestal, which was established in his work. He would draw women going on doing their everyday business. Raut was interested in deciphering the rural realities of his hometown of Bordi and the nearby town of Bassein, which left a deep mark on him. This inspired his early paintings. He has also detailed the deities of Indian mythology, most often Lord Krishna.
To perfect his mastery over human figures, attires, and ornamentation; each a part of cultural values, he travelled to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala, where he became fascinated with the country belles. This keen sense of observation added to the richness of his oeuvre. One of Harish Raut artist paintings, ‘Malvika the Dancer,’ was sold at Pundole’s in 2021, becoming the highest auction price for this artist since 2008. It sold for $3,501.
