Belgian Art Foundation buys the T. Rex Skeleton.

The 67 million years old Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton that was put on auction at the Koller Auction House in Zurich has been bought by the Phoebus Arts Foundation last week. The T. rex was sold for six million dollars. Trinity, as the skeleton is called, is one of its kind specimens to be auctioned in all of Europe. The skeleton is 50 per cent of the original bone and the other parts are taken from separate T. rex bones that were found in Wyoming and Montana, hence the name, “Trinity”. The skeleton was on display at Koller for more than two weeks which garnered a lot of audience at the auction house. The T. rex Trinity, however, did not do much in terms of sales as the previous two T. rex skeletons sold to Field Museum Chicago and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi were sold for 8 million dollars and 31.8 million dollars respectively. Amidst the controversial accusation of homophobia, sexism, intimidation and racism, the director of Brussels Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Michel Draguet resigns. According to the Brussels Times, Draguet is set to leave his post on April 30th, 2023. In December of last year, about 176 employees of the museum sent an open letter to the Belgium Secretary of State, Thomas Dermine a detailed letter with several accusations of inappropriate behaviour displayed by Draguet towards his employees. After the news broke, Draguet told the news, “a surprise because there is obviously a lot of suffering and a lot of pain in this letter and we don’t didn’t notice it, nor was it heard in the consultation bodies with the unions.” Read more about the situation on ARTnews.
