Mithu Sen, born in West Bengal in 1971, studied at Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University in Shantiniketan, and has emerged as one of India’s most avant-garde contemporary artists. Over a career spanning more than two decades, her work has consistently challenged societal norms, using art to reclaim her identity within the linguistic, historical, cultural, and sexual contours of society.
