World Art Dubai to have its largest edition from March 16: Indian Artist Ria Sharma’s work to be displayed

\"\"World Art Dubai (WAD), the region\’s largest contemporary retail art fair, returns for its 8th edition from 16-19 March 2022 at Dubai World Trade Centre. WAD is hosting 4000+ artwork pieces from 300+ renowned galleries and solo artists, hailing from 50+ countries.

It’s WAD’s largest and most diverse edition ever. WAD encourages inspired thinking through a collection of paintings, prints, sculptures, street and digital art featuring an inaugural NFT platform.

Multiple award winning Indian artist and photographer Ria Sharma’s work would be on display at WAD. She finds a mention in the ‘Artists of the Week’ section of the WAD’s website. Ria is the winner of the Nikon Photography Emerging Artist Prize at WAD 2021. She won with her creative self-portrait ‘Mask off’ that highlights what we are forced to become during the pandemic. “We may not be aware of the psychological challenges or the mental health issues that some of us may have been facing. Self-prisoner, isolated, and quite possibly sad!
The ‘Mask off’ is an illustration to reflect hope. A hope to remove this sad face mask ‘off’ and be our normal selves again.”

Formerly beginning her journey in Dubai, she is a unique combination of an experienced Civil Engineer and a Fine Artist.

Ria has discovered photography as her new found passion. She finds beauty in the simplicity of life. Her desire to travel has made her connected to various places and cultures and now she wants it to resonate through her lens too.

\"\"Recently, she has done an assignment on the lives of Dubai\’s cobblers. She hopes that the experience of being able to connect with cobblers with such ease and humbleness is well reflected through her lens. But more importantly, the simple stories of non-glamorous hands, busy at mending broken shoes, reach a bigger audience. She is an active Member of Shutter Bugs Creative Forum Dubai since 2019.
