An inspiration in art

\"\"

Although he is more widely known as a writer, philosopher and poet, Kahlil (or Khalil) Gibran was also a prolific painter. Born in January 1883, he passed away on April 10, 1931, and is best known as the author of The Prophet, one of the best-selling books of all time. Gibran was known as a Symbolist painter and worked primarily with pencil, ink, watercolor and gouache, although oil paint was his preferred medium between 1908 and 1914. He created more than 700 visual artworks, including the Temple of Art portrait series, and painted alongside some of the most acclaimed artists of his day, most notably French sculptor Auguste Rodin. \”Most of Gibran\’s paintings expressed his personal vision, incorporating spiritual and mythological symbolism,\” art critics said about him.
