Unseen Paintings to be Auctioned by AstaGuru

An auction titled, \’Modern Treasures\’ will be held by AstaGuru on September 25-26.. Paintings by Modern Indian masters such as Akbar Padamsee, FN Souza, MV Dhurandhar, and Tyeb Mehta could be the main attraction, along with works by Jogen Chowdhury, being auctioned for the first time. F.N. Souza\’s \’Paysage Aux Fleurs & Nu\’ is among the works being offered on the hammer for the very first time, and will be opened at Rs 1.2-1.5 crore. On the opposite end of the spectrum, an oil-on-canvas from the ‘Diagonal’ series by Tyeb Mehta is slated to be offered at Rs. 21-26 crore. “The Indian art market is constantly expanding and witnessing new possibilities in terms of the influx of important works,\” said Sneha Gautam, vice president at the auction house. Exhibitions Marking 50 Years since Picasso’s Death

On the occasion of the 50^th death anniversary of Pablo Picasso, \”an unprecedented\” 42 exhibitions will be taking place across Europe and US., The ‘Year of Picasso’ initiative has been jointly prepared over the past 18 months by Spain and France. Lalu Prasad Shaw Retrospective by Ina Puri, at Bikaner House

‘Lalu Prasad Shaw: Early and Recent Works’, a seven decade-spanning retrospective of the master artist Lalu Prasad Shaw previews today at the Bikaner House, Delhi. The ambitious undertaking has been curated by eminent art critic Ina Puri, and has been organised by Gallery Art Exposure, Kolkata.
