1. Temples

The Iskcon Temple, Akshardham Temple, Hutheesing Jain Temple, and Swaminarayan Temple in Ahmedabad are the places to go for spiritual solace and reflection. The Iskcon Temple, near the Vastrapur Lake, is a stunning example of modern Hindu temple architecture, dedicated to Lord Krishna. The Akshardham Temple is known for its intricate carvings and stunning design, Akshardham temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The Swaminarayan Temple, Ahmedabad, is part of the Swaminarayan Akshardham complex known for its architecture and ambience. The Hutheesing Jain Temple is dedicated to the Jain Tirthankara Dharmanatha and features marble carvings and detailed Jain craftsmanship.

2. Mosques

To witness the splendid Mughal architecture, visit the Jama Masjid, Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, and Sarkhej Roza. Jama Masjid is one of the oldest and most important mosques in Ahmedabad. It features stunning domes, minarets, and beautifully carved stonework. Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is known for its intricately carved ‘Sidi Saiyyed Jaali ‘or latticework, done by medieval artisans. The ‘Acropolis of Ahmedabad,’ Sarkhej Roza is a complex of mosques, tombs, and pavilions, which blends Hindu and Islamic styles.

3. Lakes

Both Kankaria Lake and Vastrapur Lake make for a popular recreational spot for locals and tourists alike. The large, artificial lakes offer a range of activities including boat and balloon rides. If you are looking for a leisurely day out, with plenty of parks and food stalls around, both Vastrapur Lake and Kankaria Lake will satiate you.

4. Cities

You must also visit the marvels of urban planning in Ahmedabad in their cities like the Pols and Gandhinagar. The Pols of Ahmedabad are traditional residential neighbourhoods with narrow lanes brimming with the cultural practices of old Ahmedabad. A short drive from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat and offers attractions like the Mahatma Mandir and the Gujarat Science City.

5. Museums

If you are looking for both history, adventure, and science, Ahmedabad has got the museums for you like Auto World Vintage Car Museum, the Calico Museum of Textiles, and Gujrat Science City. The modern Gujarat Science City is an interactive science centre, whose scientific concepts’ exhibits promote hands-on learning. 6. Wildlife

To learn and experience the diverse wildlife, a trip to the Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary and Kankaria Zoo is a must. The Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is home to a variety of migratory birds. Adjacent to Kankaria Lake, the Kankaria Zoo also houses animals and offers educational programs and recreational activities.

7. Historic Tombs

Ahmedabad has been the seat of many a Sultanate. Hence, you would also see the history’s remnants in the form of Rani No Hjiro and Shah-e-Alam’s Roza.  Rani No Hajiro or the Queen’s Tomb, houses the tombs of the queens and royal family of the Gujarat Sultanate. Shah-e-alam’s Roza showcases beautiful Islamic architecture and stunning design.

8. Sabarmati Ashram
