1. Bangalore (Bengaluru)

The bustling capital city renowned as India’s Silicon Valley, Bangalore offers a mix of technology and culture. Once in Bangalore, you must visit the iconic Vidhana Soudha, the sprawling Lalbagh Botanical Garden, and vibrant markets.

2. Mysore (Mysuru)

Known for its opulent royal heritage, Mysore is home to the magnificent Mysore Palace, the Chamundi Hill with its panoramic views, and the vibrant Dasara festival. For train enthusiasts, you must check out the Mysuru Railway Museum.

3. Tumkur

5. Thirthahalli

Thirthahalli is a panchayat town in Karnataka which is situated on the banks of the Tunga river. If you are looking for serenity and peace, you must visit the Tuga Bridge and meditate.

1. Chikmagalur

Famous for its coffee plantations and lush greenery, Chikmagalur offers serene landscapes, trekking opportunities to Mullayanagiri Peak, and the picturesque Hebbe Falls. Kemmangundi hiking trail and sunset viewpoint are yet another USP of Chikmagalur.

2. Coorg (Kodagu)

Dubbed the Scotland of India, Coorg is renowned for its misty hills, Abbey Falls, and the Buddhist Namdroling Monastery. Coorg is the largest coffee-producing district in India.

3. Nandi Hills

5. Bandipur National Park

Bandipur National Park is located in Chamarajnagar district of Karnataka covering an area of 868.63 sq km. Bandipur National Park is known for its tiger reserves, Indian jackal, grey langur, changeable hawk-eagle, white-throated kingfisher, green-bee eater, rat snakes, and flying lizards.

6. Nagarhole National Park

Nagarhole National Park is situated in both Kodagu and Mysore districts, covering 642.39 sq km. At Nagarhole National Park, you will get to see the Bengal tiger, Indian giant flying squirrel, leopard cat, Oriental darter, black-headed ibis, Indian python, and green pond frog. 7. Dandeli

A hub for adventure enthusiasts with activities like white-water rafting, trekking in the Western Ghats, and wildlife spotting in Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary.

8. Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary

Another popular tourist place in Karnataka is the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. Spanning 892.46 sq km, one can fawn at the slender loris, barking deer, pangolins, ruddy mongoose, king cobra, marsh crocodiles, crimson rose butterflies, painted bush quail, and blue pansy.

2. Mangalore

3. Karwar

1. Hampi

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hampi is renowned for its magnificent ruins of the Vijayanagara Empire, such as the Virupaksha Temple, Lotus Mahal, and Hampi Bazaar.

2. Badami

Known for its ancient rock-cut temples, Badami showcases Chalukyan architecture amidst stunning sandstone cliffs and Agastya Lake.

3. Halebidu and Belur

Home to Hoysala temples like the Chennakesava Temple at Belur and the Hoysaleswara Temple at Halebidu, these temples showcase exquisite craftsmanship.

4. Udupi

5. Horanadu

Horanadu is known for the Annapoorneshwari Temple. There is also a hill station in Horanadu called Kyatanamakki, which yet again is famed for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

6. Chikkaballapur

Chikkaballapur is another city in Karnataka famed for its diverse temples (Sri Bhoga Nandishwara Gudi, Sri Anjaneya Swami temple) and trekking trails.

7. Murudeshwar

You must go to Murudeshwar for a spiritual journey. Visit the Murdeshwar Temple and its 20-storeyed gopuram. It also features the third tallest statue of Lord Shiva which can be viewed from afar.

8. Srirangapatna

Srirangapatna is famous for Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, the mausoleum of Tipu Sultan, the Wellesley Bridge, the Garisson Cemetry, and the Srirangapata Fort.

9. Bijapur

Bijapur is a historic place in Karnataka which was the former capital of the Adilshahi dynasty. Bijapur will transport you to the 15th century with Anand Mahal, Jod Gumbaz, Jumma Masjid, Saat Manzil, and Jal Manzil.

10. Kolar

Kolar is known for its milk production and gold mines. But that’s not all. Kolar also features the Kolaramma Temple, and Someshwara Temple with its beautiful sculptures and carvings. 

11. Shravanabelagola

Shravanabelagola is the Jain sanctuary of Karnataka. The city is known for the Gommateshwara statue (the tallest statue in the monolithic world), Akkana Basadi, Chandragupta Basadi, Chamundaraya Basadi, and Parshvanath Basadi.

12. Talakadu

Talakadu is situated on the left bank of the Kaveri River. It has over 30 temples, which are now buried under sand. It is known for its supernatural events, also known as the curse of Talakadu, which states that the city will become a desert and no king will bear an heir.

13. Shivagange

Shivagange is an important pilgrimage spot in Karnataka. The Shivagange peak is shaped like a Shiva linga, a form of Lord Shiva. A river flows nearby, locally known as Ganga. It has numerous temples including Gangadhareshwara Temple, Sri Honnammadevi Temple, Olakal Teertha, Nandi Statue, and Patalagang Sharadambe Temple.

14. Pattadakal

Pattadakal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Hindu and Jain temple architecture. It is protected under Indian law and managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

1. Kudremukh

Kudremukh is known for its breathtaking landscapes, trekking trails, and the Kudremukh Peak offering panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Don’t miss out on the Kudremukh Trek.

2. Agumbe

A picturesque village known for its rainforests, stunning sunsets, and biodiversity, Agumbe is often referred to as the Cherrapunji of South India. It is also home to numerous waterfalls such as Onnake Abbi Falls and Barkana Falls.

3. Netrani Island

Netrani Island is a hidden gem for diving enthusiasts, offering crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse marine life. If there was eight natural wonders of the world, Netrani Island would be it.

6. Honnemaradu

Honnemaradu is a quaint village in Karnataka, close to the Jog Falls. A perfect spot for adventure seekers, Honnemaradu offers rafting and kayaking opportunities.

7. Savandurga

Although Savandurga is famous for Savandi Veerabhadreshwara Swamy and Narasimha Swamy temples, it is usually frequented by rock climbers. Savandurga Hill is made up of peninsular gneiss, granites, basic dykes, and laterites, which presents itself as a challenge even to professional climbers.
