Tao Art Gallery Mumbai Is Art Heaven
As an artist starts their journey, they always dream of being presented in a prestigious art gallery. And Tao Art Gallery in Mumbai is doing the same service to numerous artists. They have also been a staple at the India Art Fair. Since its inception in 2000, Tao Art Gallery has soared to become one of the most coveted and popular art galleries in Mumbai. The art gallery is a mecca for varied art forms and is dedicated to inventive display of artistic talent.
Tao Art Gallery is led by founder-director Kalpana Shah. According to her macro-vision, art and life are intertwined. Her daughter, Sanjana Shah soon joined as the creative director, furthering the gallery’s motive and narrative. She aims to digitise the gallery, put out an online magazine, start online sales, and usher the gallery into a new age of social media.
It must be noted that there is no connection between Taos NM Art Galleries, Tao Water Art Gallery, and Tao Art Gallery Mumbai.
Tao Art Gallery Worli
Throughout its 24-year career and within the perimeter of its two exhibition galleries, Tao Art Gallery Worli has organized exhibitions, highlighting myriad artistic mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, video, performance, and installation. They aim to create an immersive experience for all visitors and stimulate discussion on culture, aesthetics, and the global legacy of visual arts.
Tao’s premier exhibition in the early 2000s presented works of Indian masters like Husain, Raza, and Tyeb Mehta. The gallery has survived the highs and lows of the unpredictable art market, which only adds to its allure. Since then, they have made a safe and trustworthy space for artists, art collectors, and art connoisseurs.
Located across the Arabian Sea stretch, the massive glass facades allow passersby to see inside. The gallery’s architecture and interior design boast wide spacious areas and stark white walls, which let the artwork shine through. The newer Window Gallery is more minimalist and clean in design, perfect for contemporary and modern art. The original 2000 Atrium Gallery features a skylight that beautifully enhances the space with natural lighting.
But Kalpana Shah-led Tao Art Gallery isn’t just another art gallery. It has been actively involved in publishing art books, hosting workshops on art education, poetry readings, and interactive knowledge-based lectures with artists, ensuring an appreciation for art and increasing the visibility of Indian art abroad.
